End of fall color season

Trees started losing leaves here yesterday like someone threw a switch. Some of the trees in my subdivision have lost all of their leaves in the past 36 hours, and many others are on pace to be bare in the next few days. Today, every gust of wind filled the air with leaves.

In other news, I've been working on getting my business site revamped at appalachianskies.com. Being downtown and frequently meeting businesspeople is an unexpectedly nice way to make connections, so I've put more priority into getting the business aspect of my web presence up and running. This was also the impetus to get me to finally have business cards made (which, by the way, you can download a high-res image of if here). I'm also playing around with a few new domain names to construct some sub-sites. I grabbed the wvimages.com domain yesterday (couldn't believe it wasn't taken!). The plan is to make that the main scenic photography site as an off-shoot of this blog.

And the weather is still quiet, nothing of real interest showing up in long-range model-land. Currently our 850mb temps are below freezing, but just barely - and winds at all levels are not coming into the mountains at a good angle for upslope. We also have a lack of deep moisture for precip. All of those factors make snow in the mountains a very doubtful prospect for tonight and tomorrow. A potent low pressure system and east coast trough is shown for next weekend, but mostly a rain event. So even though our leaves will probably be completely gone next week, 'real' winter is not on the horizon yet.
