November lightning - a day before snow
November 5, 2007

CHASE VIDEO: November lightning in WV: Watch Video

CHARLESTON, WV - After you've paid attention to the weather for more than a few years, you start to realize that unusual weather is actually normal. Things like thunderstorms in November are rare, but not all that unheard of. I was however a little surprised at how active the storms that went through Charleston tonight were, more reminiscent of a mid-April event than for something this time of year. The temperatures in the low 50s during the storms were some of the coldest I've felt while watching lightning. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow night, quite a spectrum of weather to be seen in this 36-hour period.

I went up to Fort Hill and set up the cameras for about 20 minutes, and got these.
